County of Union issued the following announcement.
Chair Rebecca L. Williams, Commissioner Dr. Angela Garretson, and Commissioner Bette Jane Kowalski joined the Union County Bar Association Diversity, Inclusion and the Elimination of Bias Committee for their “Understanding Juneteenth and Creating Allyship” Program held in the courtroom of Assignment Judge Lisa Miralles Walsh.
Chair Williams, Commissioner Dr. Garretson, and Shirley Emehelu, Executive Assistant Attorney General for the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office, sat on a panel moderated by Tiffany Wilson, Assistant Prosecutor and Director of the Pre-Indictment Division for the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.
Joy Kay, whose father, Melvin Charles, created the Black Heritage Flag, was also present to discuss her father’s legacy. Thank you to the Committee for hosting a great program, and inviting the Commissioners to be panelist.
