The Martin Wallberg American Legion Post 3 will host the annual Memorial Day Parade in Westfield on May 25, according to an April 14 announcement. Registration to participate in the parade is open through May 20.

The event aims to honor Americans who have lost their lives in military service. The day’s activities will begin with a traditional ceremony at Memorial Plaza at 10:00 a.m., followed by the parade along East Broad Street and North Euclid Avenue, ending at Mindowaskin Park. Veterans participating in the event will be escorted by the Westfield Police Department to Fairview Cemetery for a solemn service.

After the parade, members of the public are invited to gather in Mindowaskin Park for food and entertainment from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The American Legion Hall will also host its annual barbecue with live music between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Organizers said that all events are scheduled to proceed rain or shine unless there are thunderstorms or hazardous weather conditions, in which case updates will be provided via Nixle, social media, and the Town website.

As part of this year’s America250 celebration, Westfield is expanding its Veterans Banner Program. All banners honoring veterans and active duty military personnel since the program began in 2022 will be displayed from Memorial Day through Veterans Day as part of a partnership between the Town and the Westfield Veterans Fund.
