Union County announced on Apr. 20 that it is seeking residents to serve as poll workers for the upcoming Primary Election on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. Poll workers will earn $300 for their service, with hours beginning at 5:15 a.m. and ending after polls close at least by 8:15 p.m.

The call for poll workers highlights the need to ensure every eligible voter can participate in the democratic process during the Congressional Midterm Elections. The county especially needs bilingual and Republican poll workers to meet statutory requirements and assist voters with limited English proficiency.

Any Union County resident who is at least 16 years old may apply to become a poll worker, though those aged 18 or older must be registered voters. No prior experience is necessary; however, new applicants are required to attend an in-person training session before Election Day.

Interested individuals can apply online through the Union County Board of Elections website at www.ucnj.org/pollworker or request a paper application by calling 908-527-4236 or emailing pollworker@ucnj.org. Additional information about becoming a poll worker and other resources are available on the Poll Worker Resources page at www.ucnj.org/ucboe.

Serving as a poll worker offers residents an opportunity to support fair elections and contribute directly to their community’s civic life.
