Neva Lozada, Ed.D., an associate vice president at Kean University, has been selected as a fellow in the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) Leadership Academy. This national program aims to increase diverse representation in executive and senior-level positions within higher education.
Lozada is among 45 higher education professionals chosen for the sixth cohort of this leadership academy. "I am honored to join this outstanding group of leaders and to represent Kean University in this important initiative," Lozada stated. She emphasized that the fellowship would provide valuable insights and resources to enhance her contributions toward equity, inclusion, and academic excellence at Kean.
The year-long program offers comprehensive leadership development through seminars and mentorship from university executives. It focuses on preparing participants for roles at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) like Kean University. As part of her participation, Lozada will work on a project aimed at improving leadership strategies at Kean.
Michael Salvatore, Ph.D., senior vice president for administration at Kean, praised Lozada's innovative work within the Division of Strategic Analytics and Data Illumination (SADI). “Through her efforts within SADI, Dr. Lozada has helped transform how we use data to enhance student success and university operations at Kean,” he said. He noted that her selection reflects her dedication to advancing equity and excellence in higher education.
Fellows will engage in webinars and three in-person seminars over the next year, starting with HACU’s 38th Annual Conference in Aurora, Colorado. Additional seminars will be held in Washington, D.C., and internationally.
Lozada follows other Kean leaders who have participated in the academy, including Marvin Adames last year and Carlos E. Rodriguez three years ago.
