Kean University students embarked on a diverse array of educational adventures during their Spring Break, spanning across Costa Rica, China, Ireland, and other global destinations through the University's Travelearn program.

In Costa Rica, students from various Kean campuses engaged in volunteer work at a turtle rescue center and taught English at a research station in the jungle as part of the Give Back Abroad internship program.

In Ireland, students immersed themselves in the country's literary tradition by attending classes on travel writing and exploring significant cultural sites such as Trinity College and The Irish Writer's Center. Department of English Studies Coordinator, Lisa Sisler, highlighted that the students are now actively producing travel articles and a publication proposal based on their experiences.

Meanwhile, in China, graduate students from the College of Business and Public Management delved into corporate analysis by visiting companies, meeting with industry leaders, and gaining insights into entrepreneurship and culture. CBPM Assistant Dean David Farrokh emphasized the significance of studying business practices in a real-world context.

Reflecting on their experiences, Sian Seeger, a second-year MBA student, expressed her excitement about the opportunity to study abroad and highlighted the value of encountering new cultures and business practices. Samuel Costello, a Junior English Education major, described the trip as "fabulous," underscoring the enriching nature of exploring Irish literature firsthand. Additionally, Alexa Hopman, another junior student, shared her enthusiasm for participating in travel writing, stating that the trip enhanced her writing skills and brought classroom learning to life.

Overall, the Travelearn program provided 85 students with the chance to earn college credits, experience diverse cultures, and forge lasting friendships. Assistant Vice President of Global Initiatives Jessica Goldsmith Barzilay commended the program for offering valuable opportunities to students and fostering a sense of camaraderie among participants.
