Census Bureau: 7.7% of people in Union County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 571,963 citizens living in Union County in 2021, 92.3% said they were only one race, while 7.7% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Union County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 48.3% or 275,995 individuals. Following them, African American accounted for 21.1% and totaled 120,874 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Union County is 1% higher than the state average, which stands at 6.7%.
