10

County of Union issued the following announcement.

In celebration of the late Jan Lilien, Commissioner Rebecca L. Williams and Commissioner Bette Jane Kowalski attended Hanson Park in Cranford to celebrate Jan’s birthday and break ground on a living memorial in her honor.

Jan Lilien served as the CEO for the Girl Scouts of Greater Essex and Hudson Counties of 17 years, the assistant executive director for Community Access Elizabeth for 5 years, and was most recently before her passing, the executive director of the YWCA of Union County for 12 years.

Thank you to Jan’s husband, Richard Brown, and President of Hanson Park Conservancy, Ellen McHenry for putting together a beautiful event in honor of Jan’s legacy. Cranford Mayor, Kathleen Miller Prunty was also in attendance for the celebration.
