Cost of college went up for all students at Union County College

In-state tuition and fees rose 7 percent for 2018-19 at Union County College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New Jersey residents paid $10,280 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $672 more than the $9,608 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid the same amount as residents this year, or $10,280. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 7 percent from $9,608 in 2017-18.

100 percent of the school's undergraduate population are New Jersey residents.

Data shows 69 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 864 students received grants or scholarships totaling $4.9 million and 112 students took out student loans totaling more than $540,475.

Including all undergraduates (9,412), 4,819 students used grants or scholarships totaling $21.5 million, and 1,384 students took out $8.1 million in federal student loans.
