Assemblywoman Michele Matsikoudis, who represents New Jersey’s 21st Legislative District, marked Women’s Equality Day and highlighted her legislative priorities in a series of social media posts this week.

On August 25, Matsikoudis addressed her constituents with a message about her ongoing commitment to supporting women in New Jersey. She stated, “Good morning, District 21! Tomorrow is Women’s Equality Day, and on this episode of #MondaysWithMichele, learn more about how I have made it a priority to support policies that empower women, create opportunities, and ensure that every woman has the ability to thrive in NJ!” She also encouraged followers to access further information about her work: “Be sure to use this link to view my legislative portfolio, sign up for my office newsletter, and follow me on my other social media platforms: https://t.co/5qph09sSv5”, posted on August 25.

The following day, Matsikoudis recognized the significance of Women’s Equality Day by referencing its historical roots. On August 26 she wrote, “Happy #WomensEqualityDay! Today, we celebrate the work of the suffragettes which culminated 105 years ago in the adoption of the 19th Amendment, securing women the right to vote throughout the United States.”

Women’s Equality Day commemorates the passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in 1920. The amendment granted women across the country full voting rights after decades of advocacy from suffrage activists. Matsikoudis’ posts reflect ongoing efforts by elected officials to recognize both historical milestones and contemporary policy initiatives aimed at advancing gender equality.
