Asw. Michele Matsikoudis, a member of the New Jersey General Assembly, recently shared updates on her official Twitter account regarding local commemorative events and national observances.
On September 16, 2025, Matsikoudis reflected on her participation in a ceremony honoring Revolutionary War heroes: “Was my great pleasure to take part in the sign dedication at French-Richards Cemetery in Springfield as we honored local Revolutionary War heroes. What a surprise to receive the Sons of the American Revolution’s Bronze Good Citizenship Medal while I was there! Truly grateful.”
Later that day, she highlighted her office’s involvement in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month: “Yesterday, my Chief of Staff attended Union College’s Hispanic Heritage Month Opening Ceremony! Our team is proud to recognize this important celebration that serves as a reminder of the many contributions that Hispanic Americans have made to our country and our communities.”
On September 17, 2025, Matsikoudis marked Constitution Day with a post recognizing the significance of the U.S. Constitution: “Today, we commemorate the 238th anniversary of the adoption of the U.S. Constitution and celebrate the many freedoms and civil liberties that this hallowed document protects. Happy #ConstitutionDay, everyone! “
The French-Richards Cemetery in Springfield is known for its historical ties to early American history and serves as a site for community remembrance events. The Sons of the American Revolution regularly award medals such as the Bronze Good Citizenship Medal to individuals who demonstrate civic responsibility. Hispanic Heritage Month is observed annually from September 15 to October 15 across the United States to honor the histories and cultures of Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. Constitution Day commemorates September 17, 1787—the signing date of the U.S. Constitution—an event recognized nationwide each year.
