Assemblywoman Michele Matsikoudis marked Columbus Day on October 13, 2025, with a series of posts highlighting Italian-American contributions and encouraging voter registration ahead of the election. Matsikoudis, who represents New Jersey’s 21st Legislative District, used her social media to address constituents and provide important election-related information.
In a post from October 13, Matsikoudis stated, “Today, we celebrate the many contributions of Italian-Americans in building our country, our state, and our communities. Happy Columbus Day! Our office is closed for this public holiday, so email outreach to AswMatsikoudis@njleg.org is preferred at this time. Thank you!”
Later that morning, she reminded residents of the upcoming voter registration deadline. On October 13, she posted, “Good morning, District 21! In order to make YOUR voice heard in this year’s election, you must be registered to vote by tomorrow, 10/14! Check out today’s #MondaysWithMichele to learn the quick & easy steps you can take to cast your ballot in the general election. “
Matsikoudis also provided a resource link for voter registration and office updates. In a tweet dated October 13, she wrote, “Be sure to use this link to register to vote, request a vote-by-mail ballot, sign up for my office newsletter, and/or follow me on my other social media platforms: https://t.co/5qph09sSv5”
Columbus Day is a federal holiday in the United States observed on the second Monday of October each year. The day recognizes the landing of Christopher Columbus in the Americas and is often celebrated by Italian-American communities across the country. Voter registration deadlines in New Jersey typically fall about three weeks before Election Day; in 2025, the deadline was set for October 14.
