Clark Township’s Department of Public Works (DPW) has been clearing about 70 miles of local roads after a significant snowstorm that brought over 15 inches of wet, heavy snow to the area.

The DPW began plowing with an initial pass to allow emergency vehicles to travel safely, focusing first on major roads before moving into neighborhoods. Some streets experienced delays in plowing due to fallen power lines.

According to the township, “Clark DPW handles municipal streets. Union County manages county roads. NJDOT is responsible for the Garden State Parkway.” Residents are reminded not to push snow back onto the street and to keep their vehicles off roadways while crews continue their work.

The township noted, “Plowing began with an initial pass to ensure first responders could travel safely, then continued curb-to-curb, starting with major roads and moving into neighborhoods. Some streets were delayed due to fallen power lines.”

Large piles of snow and ice may have accumulated along driveways and curbs as a result of the storm. The township explained this is unavoidable during storms of this size and advised residents they may need to clear any snow left at the end of their driveways.

Crews will continue making additional passes until all roadways are fully cleared. “Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to keep the township safe and accessible,” officials said.
