Assemblywoman Michele Matsikoudis, a member of the New Jersey General Assembly, shared several updates on her official X account in December 2025 regarding her legislative activities and reflections on state milestones.
On December 17, 2025, Matsikoudis announced the end of her tenure on the Higher Education Committee. She expressed appreciation for her colleagues, stating, “Last week marked the conclusion of my service on the Higher Ed Committee. I’ve been so grateful for the bipartisan collaboration that each and every one of these members has brought to our shared mission. Thanks to Chairwoman Carter for her continued friendship & partnership! “
The following day, she commemorated a significant historical anniversary for New Jersey. On December 18, 2025, she wrote, “Today, we join residents across the state in celebrating New Jersey! 238 years ago today, our state ratified the U.S. Constitution. Despite all the policy challenges we deal with here, I truly believe there is no greater place to call home! Happy Birthday, New Jersey! “ The ratification of the U.S. Constitution by New Jersey occurred on December 18, 1787.
Later that same day, Matsikoudis highlighted progress on a legislative initiative focused on student mental health. She reported that her proposal to create a Student Mental Health Task Force advanced unanimously in committee: “Today, the Assembly Education Committee voted 9-0 to advance my proposal to create a Student Mental Health Task Force! Grateful to @ASWReyJackson for posting A276 as we aim to craft best practices for NJ schools to provide students with the mental health support they need. “
Student mental health has become an increasing concern in recent years across New Jersey and nationally. Efforts like Matsikoudis’s proposal reflect broader attempts by lawmakers to address gaps in school-based mental health resources and develop policies aimed at supporting student well-being.
Michele Matsikoudis serves as an assemblywoman representing parts of Union County in New Jersey’s legislature.
